La Monnaie ¦ Recitals ¦ Christoph Prégardien & Julia Kleiter ¦ Intro
Christoph Prégardien & Julia Kleiter
A few years before his death, Hugo Wolf composed 46 musical miniatures on the intermittence of love, inspired by the gioia di vivere of popular Italian poetry. A map of the imaginary Tendre full of dramatic homogeneity and captivating sound, which leads us from light-heartedness to despair, from provocation to admiration, and from intimacy to the most cheerful frivolity."Christoph Prégardien will explore the entirety of this Italienisches Liederbuch during his new recital at La Monnaie. This superb opera tenor and renowned specialist of the German Lied, with his art of refined phrasing and insightful interpretation, will perform a sentimental exchange by Wolf with soprano Julia Kleiter. These two subtle, golden voices are perfectly matched to render the moods of the many utterances of love, spoken by both men and women.
