Daniel Mendelsohn, one of the greats of the American intelligentsia, is the author of novels, essay collections and translations. His thoughts on subjects as far-ranging as Greek tragedy and pop culture, cinema and opera, the classics and contemporary history appear regularly in the famous New York Review of Books. His book The Lost: A Search for Six of Six Million was critically acclaimed when it appeared and went on to win the Médicis foreign prize in Paris.
