Daniel Mendelsohn, one of the greats of the American intelligentsia, is the author of novels, essay collections and translations. His thoughts on subjects as far-ranging as Greek tragedy and pop culture, cinema and opera, the classics and contemporary history appear regularly in the famous New York Review of Books.
