Laurent Pelly at La Monnaie

A video portrait

French director Laurent Pelly is celebrated internationally for his dream-like perspective on the bittersweet opera repertoire. On multiple occasions he has managed to enchant La Monnaie audiences with his unique theatrical vision: with Don Quichotte in 2010, Cendrillon in 2011, The Golden Cockerel in 2016 and with Don Pasquale in 2018. In December of 2020, Verdi’s swan song Falstaff will be his latest adventure. Once more Pelly is in charge of our end-of-year production, and once more he’ll be flanked by our Music Director – and his compatriot – Alain Altinoglu.

In this mini-documentary, the director reveals his artistic credo and returns to his previous stagings at La Monnaie.
