To finish on a high note, we have invited none other than Stéphanie d’Oustrac to bring our recital season to a close. Last heard at La Monnaie during our extra-muros season, the French mezzo gave a brilliant performance as Béatrice in Béatrice et Bénédict by Hector Berlioz. For this Lieder evening, she meets up once again with the enfant terrible of French Romanticism, whom she partners – as she did on her album Sirènes – with his contemporary and soulmate Franz Liszt. Her programme also turns the spotlight on the French-Spanish composer Pauline Viardot.
