Presentation
A mind in a body in a room in a story in a mind in a body in the world

A woman is found alone in a mountain refuge. She is suspected of having killed her children. During her interrogation, she remains silent, leading the interrogator to reflect on her own state of mind. As time passes, the fog thickens as it becomes harder and harder to distinguish reality from imagination. In this chamber opera, inspired by the monochromatic photographs of Masao Yamamoto, the dark surrealism of David Lynch and the ancient ritualism of Nōh theatre, British- Chinese composer Jamie Man and Swiss author Peter Stamm explore the boundaries between the visible, the audible, and the comprehensible. A polyphonic interplay between electronic music and the voices of a striking mix of performers heightens the disparity between expectation, perception, and reality.
