Chamber music

Concertini 2021-22

Presentation

The Concertini will also be joining in the festivities to mark the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra’s 250th birthday. Throughout the season, musicians from our orchestra will perform chamber music pieces by great Belgian composers such as César Franck and Joseph Jongen and by lesser known composers, such as Georges Antoine and Joseph Ryelandt. There is also a thread that connects the opera programme and our lunchtime concerts: in an echo of LuluAlain Altinoglu will conduct Berg’s Kammerkonzert, and the productions of Norma, Carmen and Requiem will be reflected in Concertini programmes of intricate, virtuosic, and airy music. This will be the first season in which the ‘Wildcards’ project will invite young singers from the MM Academy to create new programmes to be performed as lunchtime concerts. Also featuring some enduring classics from the German chamber music repertoire, the Concertini are sure to be a joy both to play and to hear.
